All Amberlight consultants are members of the UPA, the primary body for usability professionals. The UPA regularly runs events and international conferences to develop the skills of practitioners and an understanding of the importance of usability in industry.

The British Computer Society HCI group is the meeting place of academics and practitioners working in the field. Since 1984, the group has worked to break down barriers and to promote communication between people who use computers, people who implement them and people who investigate HCI issues. All Amberlight consultants are members of the BCS-HCI Group.

All Amberlight consultants are members of the ACM, and their HCI special interest group (SIGCHI). This organisation provides the leading international forum for HCI issues and debates. The ACM portal contains reliable research findings in the field, in addition to the proceedings from the annual SIGCHI conference.
