User-centred Design Consultant
October 2007 - We need unique people to join our consultancy team based in central London. You need to have:
- UCD/HCI knowledge - you need to have a good understanding of the HCI field of knowledge, including a formal qualification in this area such as an MSc. You keep yourself up-to-date with the latest thinking and research.
- Methodological skills - you need to have first hand experience of designing and running usability tests, and analysing the results. Experience of other methodologies such as expert walkthroughs, accessibility audits, card sorting, defining stakeholder requirements, task analysis, wireframing and prototyping is desirable.
- Analysis and Design skills - you must have experience in taking data from tests or other user inputs, and developing this into real user insight and then to a set of specific actionable recommendations at both strategic and design levels.
- Consultancy skills - you must behave confidently and professionally with clients at all levels and in all situations. You must be able to present yourself and your work in a calm, clear and engaging manner. It is also desirable for applicants to demonstrate the ability to identify new business opportunities and to develop clients accounts.
- Personal skills - we are a small company and you need to work with the team - to be willing to pitch in to help with anything and to contribute positively to the culture.
- Experience - At least two years experience in a usability-focused role preferably as a consultant.
- Passion - You are genuinely excited at the prospect of UCD principles being applied to everything in the world, for evermore.
