Jeremy Swinfen Green

Jeremy Swinfen Green - Managing Director

MSc (Oxon), MBA (Cass), CMC, FIBC

Jeremy has worked in digital marketing, research and user experience consultancy for marketing agencies and media owners since 1992. He helped a wide range of organisations including government departments, national newspaper owners and major retailers optimise their websites, digital communications and online services in order to increase engagement and conversion rates.

As well as providing strategic digital business, communications and marketing advice, he has considerable experience of both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies for user experience research and in-depth knowledge of emerging techniques such as the use of social media for market research. In addition his background in marketing means that he combines an understanding of “emotional” elements of the user experience such as tone of language and the effect of brand perceptions, with “rational” elements such as the structure of the user journey.

He is a keen advocate of accessible design and currently serves on the BIS eAccessibility Forum.

Jeremy lives with his wife, twin boys and several other small animals in West London.

The skills Anna has acquired throughout her 9 years of research and project management experience make her an integral part to the seamless running of Amberlight’s day to day business. Her responsibilities include resource planning and overseeing major internal processes. Anna’s wit and patience also make her a pleasure to work with for both her colleagues and clients alike.

Outside the company, Anna has a keen interest in psychology, for which she’s just earned an Honours degree and is a connoisseur of fine whisky, preferably single malt...

Kessey Esteves

Kessey Esteves – Office Manager

BA (Hons) Events Management & Public Relations

Kessey originally hails from hot and happy Brazil, and came to London via Florida. She holds a degree in Events Management and Public Relations from London Metropolitan University. An organised person who excels at multi-tasking, her role here at Amberlight ensures the company functions on a day-to-day basis. Kessey manages the office, kit and visitors, looks after the consultants and gives immediate IT support. Not content with this, however, she has also taken on the role of resident nutritionist and personal trainer and is whipping us all into shape!

After hours her interests include events management and PR, healthy eating, exercising and shopping for food, as well as sunbathing of course, and her list of achievements includes very successful fund-raising events for La Vida, a charity that funds health and education projects in Latin America.

If she had the power she would add a beach to her back yard, turn up the thermostat of London so it is hot every day of the year and close the pipes so there is no rain. Kessey, we salute you and will love you forever if you could make this happen!

Sanjeet Bhachu

Sanjeet Bhachu - Senior Consultant

MPhil, BSc (Hons) Psychology & Computer Science

An experienced consultant with a strong background in usability, Sanjeet consistently delivers excellence to his clients. By developing strong relationships and applying his finely tuned understanding of users, he has helped create high-quality user experiences across a number of different technology platforms.

Before joining Amberlight, Sanjeet used his entrepreneurial instincts to set up a Web development consultancy in Scotland, working with various businesses to establish their Web presence. His experience and highly professional approach makes him a popular team member and a desired resource to his clients.

Saravjit Rihal

Saravjit Rihal - Senior Consultant

PhD, MSc HCI, BSc (Hons) Computer Science

Whether teaching undergraduates in Texas as part of his PhD, developing EDS’s traffic control system or running a prototyping team based in India (while still in the UK), Saravjit’s calm, confident manner conceals a burning passion for all things Human Factors - this is what makes him one of Amberlight’s leading consultants.

His work interests cover internationalism, localisation and ethnography, as well as a special understanding of mobile devices. He is also the office’s unbeaten Nintendo Wii tennis champion. Outside of work, Saravjit is an enthusiastic photographer, enjoys travelling and claims to be Nottingham Forest’s number 1 fan, but he has promised never to speak about it in public, and we hope that his other talents will allow our clients to overlook this rather glaring lack of good judgement.

Ryan Barkataki

Ryan Barkataki - Consultant

MA Industrial Design, MSc HCI & Ergonomics, BSc Design and Computing

Ryan is the resident Mac Enthusiast of Amberlight and will spend most of his day hunched over his iPad looking at the latest technology blog or pointing out something we need to buy. His background in both Design and Computing has allowed him to work in many visual aspects of Amberlight’s work, be it video editing, 3D rendering, presentation design, icon design or sketching. His love of the open source technologies of Processing and Arduino means he’s forever coming up with little apps and interactive devices for us to use.

Previously, Ryan built an artificial indoor sky for people with Seasonal Affective Disorder for his undergrad at Goldsmiths and for his first Masters at UCL, he made a television that you could use any object near it as a remote control (so you don’t have to worry about losing your remote!). His recent MA in Industrial Design at Central Saint Martins allowed him to create a GPS-enabled torch that could show you safe walking routes to get home by pointing the torch on the floor.

As well as his work for Amberlight, he works as a freelance session drummer and has worked for the Virgin, Domino, Roundhouse and Universal/Interscope Record labels.

Jaeseung Chang

Jaeseung Chang - Consultant

His personal research interests include multimodal interaction and mobile interaction.

Jaeseung has an impressive academic background having studied for two taught-postgraduate degrees and one research masters degree.

Angeliki Chrysafidi

Angeliki Chrysafidi - Consultant

MSc HCI, BSc Psychology

Not one for being pigeon-holed, Angeliki likes to utilise her full range of research and design skills in order to achieve the goals and objectives for all her projects. Her natural sense of curiosity and inquisitiveness ensures that no stone is left unturned on the path to user centred design enlightenment, while her exceptional design and problem solving skills ensure that she develops truly actionable recommendations.

Angeliki also brings a number of diverse interests to her work with Amberlight, whether it be her master’s thesis studying emotional expressive gestures in video games, her psychology degree from Panteion University in Athens, her love of contemporary dance or her impressive command of English, German and Italian (as well as Greek of course).

Audrey Chung

Audrey Chung - Consultant

MPsych (Organisational), BSc (Hons) Psychology

If you’re as curious as Audrey you must find everything on this planet amazing and interesting. Whether it’s grinding glasses for the short-sighted, teaching autistic children or studying how transparency is perceived, Audrey knows there’s always something exciting to learn.

Audrey’s employment history is diverse and includes working in market and social research at Ipsos in her native Australia, as well as teaching English in Japan. While completing her masters in Organisational Psychology, she worked as a Human Factors intern at the Australian Department of Defence, where she used computer simulation to study mental workload and situation awareness in combat command and control. Since joining Amberlight she has contributed to high-profile projects for clients including O2, MSN, Vodafone and Directgov.

If she’s not travelling herself, she sends Super Mario through his virtual universe, cracks high scores on Guitar Hero and longs for a new digital camera. She loves anything to do with eating and cooking (ideally, both).

Damien Livingston

Damien Livingston - Consultant

MSc Ergonomics & Human Factors, BSc (Hons) Psychology

Damien brings together design, psychology and Human-Computer Interaction, which he utilises to really understand end users and how to design solutions that best meet their needs. Damien’s experience as a graphic designer for JC Decaux before joining Amberlight adds a creative element to his consultancy and user interface design work.

His easy going attitude and highly professional and diligent work ethic make him extremely popular with his clients (and his senior consultants :-). Damien likes to experience every angle of user centred design in terms of methods and doesn’t like limiting himself to just a few specialist areas. His professional interests lie in expanding his knowledge of different research methodologies, which he uses to always tailor his approach to the specific needs of each project.

Mark Parnell

Mark Parnell - Consultant

MSc, BSc (Hons)

Mark has always enjoyed experiencing something new, whether it’s exotic foodstuff or the latest social network. Combined with his background in psychology and philosophy, Mark has an aptitude for analysing what works (and what doesn’t) in such novel experiences.

He followed up his BSc with a stint in pharmaceutical project management and then took an MSc in Human Computer Interaction at UCL, where he completed his thesis on videogame player experience, working in conjunction with Sony. The result is someone with a love of all things UX – from web to mobile to videogames, Mark is dedicated to improving the user experience.

Steven Wall

Steven Wall - Consultant

PhD, BSc (Hons) Cybernetics & Control Engineering

Steve has a background in Cybernetics, which he helpfully summarises as “control and communication in human and machine”. Before joining Amberlight he held research posts at top UK universities such as Edinburgh, Glasgow and Cambridge. A keen advocate of inter-disciplinary work, collaborating with colleagues from backgrounds as diverse as neuroscience and the applied arts has provided Steve with an open and inquisitive approach to understanding the relationship between users and emerging new technologies.

Previously he has brought user-centred insights to developing haptic interfaces for virtual reality, designing and testing accessible technologies for visually impaired learners at the Royal National College in Hereford, and ethnographic research to help Kodak understand digital photography practices in the family home. Outside work Steve enjoys various challenges, including hurling himself down a mountainside while skiing, competing in half marathons, and taxing his lateral thinking with strategic board games.
