Audits are evaluations of products or prototypes that do not involve real users. They are conducted by HCI experts using a variety of techniques.
Audits typically focus on the top three tiers of our system requirements hierarchy: accessibility, usability and persuasiveness. There is no such thing as an audit for usefulness - its evaluation will always require the involvement of real users.
Our consultants will work with your team in order to identify the questions you have and the data you need. We identify any technical, commercial or practical constraints on our recommendations where appropriate.
The criteria we use for audits depend on the areas you are interested in. Accessibility audits for websites will involve analysts applying WAI and DDA checklists to your product. Usability audits will use the 'Cognitive Walkthrough' technique of defining tasks and identifying likely issues with effectiveness, efficiency and user satisfaction.
